We are currently looking for local talent for the following positions :

CHASSIS DYNO OPERATOR

P&K Thornton Restorations are seeking an experienced engineer to run our modern rolling road facility. Working alongside our engineering team in modern facilities where you will be required to carry out all aspect of dyno testing and fine tuning on our our new bespoke test cell equipped with a two wheel drive rolling road dyno.

We are looking for a proactive, confident technician who is a team focused individual possessing an excellent understanding of engine characteristics, carburettors and fuel injection / ECUs, willing to learn and take on new challenges.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of dyno operation and

be experienced in all aspects of engine calibration, carburettors setup and rebuild, fuel systems for classic and performance road and race cars, wiring and installation of engine management systems.

The ideal candidate should be: -

  • Experienced in engine management technology.

  • Confident in taking on complete engine mapping projects.

  • Experienced in wiring and installing engine management systems.

  • Able to build, create and optimise mapping strategy.

  • Experienced in fault finding diagnosis.

  • Familiar with providing remote customer support.

  • Familiar with using a chassis dynamometer.

  • Familiar with both carburettors and fuel injection systems for classic and modern performance cars

  • Experienced in engine / dyno installation.

  • Read & understand technical drawings.

  • PC literate.

  • Capable of developing a build book and written reports.

  • Engine build experience an advantage but not essential.

  • Willing to assist with engine / carburettors build shop activity when required.

PROJECT MANAGER

P&K Thornton Restorations are seeking a Project Manager with experience in the classic car restoration business or a seasoned project manager from other fields possessing significant knowledge and experience with classic and performance cars. The ideal candidate would be a proven leader possessing solid experience managing long-term projects.

The Shop Manager’s most important responsibilities include ensuring that all projects are on schedule, within budget, and of the highest quality. Our restoration projects can require over 1,000 hours of labor including everything from teardown, mechanical, electrical repair and/or replacement, comprehensive testing, troubleshooting, custom fabrication, paint and body, reassembly, and even custom upholstery.

Excellent communication, leadership, delegation, and management skills required.

Skills required:

  • Proven ability managing project plans and budgets

  • Ability to quote accurately

  • Managing technical staff to achieve a high degree of efficiency and work quality

  • Managing all business aspects of an operational workshop

  • Excellent problem solver and creative thinker with “Can Do” attitude

  • Working knowledge of paint and body work

  • Operation of rolling road or similar diagnostics and performance engine tuners

  • Wide knowledge of classic car parts suppliers

  • Understanding of restomod fundamentals

  • Knowledge of modern performance cars
